Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #169

The challenge at Fantabulous Cricut this week is "Set the Scene."  Create a project with an outdoor (or indoor) scene.

I used the Nifty Fifties cartridge to do an indoor scene.  The backgrounds for the Nifty Fifties are so great!  I just love all the retro designs on the cartridge.  Especially the cars.  There are three car themed cuts on this cartridge.  A must for anyone whose DH is into cars!

House of Cards Classic & Elegant Week!

This is my very first post as a Design Team Member for the House of Cards Classic & Elegant Team.  My DT card will post on the third Monday of each month.  If there is a 5th Monday in the month, I will post for the photo challenge too.

http://design-seeds.com/palettes/FreshCherry.png

Here is how our challenge blog works--we will have a monthly color palette or sketch and then each week we'd like to see a different card making style using those parameters.  If there is a 5th Monday in the month, we will have a photo inspiration and you can create using any card making style you'd like!

After much digging through my stash of stamps and paper to find the perfect colors and image I decided on this Carousel Horse.  It was fun finding and using all the stuff in my stash.  Here's the information on what I used.
Stamps:  Carousel Horse from Inkadinkado, Ticket Stamps from Stampin'Up, Wish big Stamp & Die from Jillian Vance
Embossing Folder:  Diamonds & Dots from Lifestyle Crafts
Cricut Elegant Edges Cartridge
Turquoise Ribbon:  Really Reasonable Ribbon
Ribbon Roses:  Paper Wishes
Designer Paper:  Authentique Celebrate 6x6 Bundle
Markers:  Stampin'Up Pool Party, Cherry Cobbler, Tempting Turquoise; Tim Holtz Distressed Markers Wild Honey and Mustard Seed
Washi Tape flags:  My Minds Eye
Brads & Bling from my stash.

Please join us over at House of Cards for some fun!

Fantabulous Cricket Challenge #168

The challenge on the Fantabulous Cricket Blog #168 was Cute as a Bug.  I don't do cute very well but the challenge said to make a project with any type of bug.  I immediately grabbed my Art Nouveau Cartridge because of all the gorgeous bugs it has.

I think this moth is gorgeous.  I also think this fits well with the Operation Write Home Mid-week Throwdown to make a masculine card.  I think the clean lines of the moth would appeal to the masculine senses.  Background paper is Jillibean Soup Dutch Mustard Soup.

Apron Strings Cookout Challenge Week 2

The Apron Strings Blog is having a Cookout Challenge this month.  This week the challenge was to choose ingredients for an ice cream Sunday.  Each day those choices gave you different crafty items to play with.
I chose Chocolate Ice cream, Brownie Bites, Straberry Sauce, Whipped Cream and Maraschino Cherries. On Tuesday I had to use chocolate cardstock, mist paint or ink, something bright red, die cut and transparency.  I used Operation Write Home Sketch #180 as my starting point.  It was tough stampin on the transparency with StazOn ink I finally got it on the 3rd try.

On Wednesday I had to use pattern paper with brown in it, red cardstock, rinestones, canvas embellishments and cardstock stickers.  I had to look up what a cardstock sticker was but I actually had some in one of my Apron Strings All Year Cheer Card kits.  It is hard to see but there are little rinestones on the corner cardstock stickers.

On Thursday I had to use an effect (emboss/deboss, foiled etc), twill trim, a pocket, grosgrain trim and flowers.

On Friday I had to use Polka Dot ribbon, wood embellishment, 3 tags, a word (rub on, chipboard or diecut) and swirls.

I think Friday's card is my favorite of the bunch.  I am also entering this card in the Inkspirational challenge #28.  It is a photo challenge.    All the red and the polka-dot and the fact that lady birds fly just fit with this card.

I had fun playing and used stuff from my Apron Strings All Year Cheer Card kits from January through May. I have kept my kits together but it was fun mixing and matching items from different kits.

House of Cards Cute and Fun Challenge

This week at the House of Cards is the Cute & Fun Challenge.  I have a hard time with Cute & Fund but decided to expand my horizons by submitting a card for the challenge.  I am also taking a Cricut Art Philosophy class at My Creative Classroom and have learned a lot about how to organize my Cricut books for ease of finding images.  So I did the first class assignment and used the color challenge from House of Cards.

I am also entering this in the Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog Patriotic because after all it is an Anyhero card.  What's more patriotic than that? :-)

Happy Crafting

The midweek throw down at the Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps blog was a color throw down using Red, White Blue and Kraft.  I used OWH sketch 179 flipped (with a little leeway) as my starting point.
