Inkspirational Challenge #11

The challenge this week over at the Inkspirational blog is a photo challenge.

Here is my card for the challenge.

I got the idea to use the tag  from Paula's Handmade by Paula blog.  She was talking about bargain bin purchases and their usefulness.  Her tag cards were gorgeous!   I dug out some K&Co Tags I had and there was the purple tag I needed to finish the card!  The background was designed by me in Storybook Creator 4.0 using  a Lavender Spring (retired)  background and flowers and a Heart & Soul Value Collection overlay from the Digital Scrapbook Place.  Yes, you can use any standard digital artwork in Storybook Creator 4.0.  I find it so much easier to use that Photoshop Elements.  The Thank You sentiment is Graphic 45 Place in Time Sticker page.  I liked how the brown of the ticket matches the brown of the bunny in the photo!  The Purple velvet ribbon came in a card kit from Apron Strings Designs.

Inkspirational Challenge #3

The ladies over at Inskiprational Challenges blog has a CASE Challenge for us this week.  Here is the card we are CASEing.

And here is my card:

That gorgeous paper is Graphic 45 Tropical Travelogue "Island Jewel."  The minute I saw it in my stash I knew it was the one to use for this challenge.  Card stock is from Creative Memories.  "Thanks" stamp is from the K.Andrew Beautiful Wings set (no longer for sale on her website).  I just embossed a little line around three edges of the card for some dimension.  Another CAS card from me (very rare to do 2 in one week).

Graphic 45 Place in Time Calendar

I am in love with the Graphic 45 Place in Time paper.  I am doing a calendar sheet each month and hanging it in my Creative Memories Magnetic Display.  The new displays don't have the ribbon across the front like mine.  They are sized to fit a 12 x 12 page.  It is a nice way to showcase your scrapbook creations.

I used SRM Calendar stickers for 2013 rather than make a calendar on the blank ones.  I'll post a new page each month to showcase the gorgeous paper.

World Cardmaking Day Bloghop Graphic 45 Style

Welcome to the Operation Write Home World Cardmaking Day Bloghop!

For my card I started with OWH Sketch #10 because I wanted to do something with tags. I got some great free chipboard tags when I went to Scrapfest at the Mall of the America.
They are from the Graphic 45 Nutcracker Sweet.
(yes I know, "suite" is the word for the ballet music
but this is all about the beautiful  "eye" candy that Graphic 45 is famous for!)
Note:  the blue is a little more intense IRL.

This is the Graphic 45 8x8 Nutcracker Sweet pad.  To bling up the card I was able to glue rhinestone jewels inside the holes of the chipboard tags using glossy accents.  This is so the card is not bumpy and should be able to make it through the post office mashing machine!  I also used glossy accents wherever the design had a sparkle star I highlighted it with Glossy Accents.  Ribbon is from my stash.
One of my favorite memories is taking my DD to see the Nutcracker Ballet done by a local ballet school.  Professional Ballet Companies can't hold a candle to the fun of watching a ballet school perform the Nutcracker!  Enjoy the rest of the bloghop by clicking on the picture at the top of the page to take you back to the page with all the list of blogs.

Scrapfest at the Mall Of America

My dear Sister-in-Law talked me into going to Scrapfest at the Mall Of America this year.  She had attended last year and had so much fun she wanted to do it again.  I had an absolute ball!  It is a fantastic way for crafters to see vendors and learn about their products.  The have many booths with "make and takes" that are free (you must buy a Scrapfest badge to do the make and takes).  My absolute favorite booth was the Graphic 45 booth.  Each day of Scrapfest we made a different tag from their Lady's Diary line.  Here are the tags (each one measures 41/2 by 9 inches)

There were 27 booths and we hit each one of them at least once.  Many booths had different projects each day.  The Carta Bella and Echo Park booth did two projects a day!  Here is a sample of most of the make and takes I made.

We also attended two crops at the Archiver's store in Apple Valley MN.  The Friday night crop was sponsored by Maya Road and we made a darling card and got a goodie package of chipboard, a canvas mini album and a Vintage Embellishment Super Pack.  Maya Road has several grand prizes also but we didn't win.  On Saturday night the sponsor was Graphic 45.  We made a vintage card with real metal hinges and received a goodie pack that included Hampton Art stamps and a 12x12 pad of Graphic 45 Cirque paper.  I won one of the grand prizes that included an alphabet stamp set, Graphic 45 hardware, Little Darling Stamp sets and a Nutcracker 8x8 pad.  Plus the Archiver's store provided a goodie bag each night also.  I barely had enough suitcase room to cart all the goodies from Scrapfest home!

Last and best of all was the one hour and a half class with the Rock Star of crafting TIM HOLTZ!  (scream!)  He is one of the best instructors on video and even better in person.  The project taught us a lot of techniques.  After the class he was available for picture taking and autographing.  I had him autograph the top of my instruction sheet.  Here it is framed on my wall in my craft room next to my completed project.

We enjoyed talking to women from all over the country while we were standing in line for the make and takes.  And of course the shopping, there were some amazing stores.  I hope you might consider attending a Scrapfest.  You will not be disappointed.

Valentines

I waited until I gave these valentines to my family before I posted them.  We had an early Valentine's Day dinner on Saturday because the restaurants get so crowded the closer to Valentine's Day it gets.   On Valentine's Day we will have a special at home meal.

Here is the valentine I gave my hubby.

The outside of the valentine was a cutout from the BoBunny "Enchanted Cut Outs" page.  This is a gorgeous black and white designed paper with black glitter swirls on it.  The inside of the card I designed on my Storybook Creator 4.0 software using the Creative memories Black and White Power Pallet.  This was all mounted on a 5.5 x 5.5 black card.

Now the valentine for my daughter.

I used my Cricut and made her a Hello Kitty valentine.  The background paper is Poppies from the Graphic 45 Wizard of Oz collection.  Poppies are her favorite flower and Hello Kitty is one of her favorites too.  The stamp is from the Hero Arts Operation Write Home collection.  The crystal heart is from TPC Studios.

Hope your Valentine's Day is special!
