Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge #156

The sketch challenge #156 over at Operation Write Home threw me for a couple of days until I turned it on its side.  Here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

I went totally masculine and Tim Holtz distressed on this one.  The image is "Rusty Truck" from Stamper's Best stamped on craft cardstock with Walnut Stain Distressed ink.   It is mounted on Tim Holtz Distress collection core'dinations in Walnut Stain.  The cardstock base is embossed with Tim Holtz Steampunk Embossing Folder with all the gears.  I applied Walnut Stain Distressed ink to bring out the embossing more.  The ribbon is Tim Holtz idea-ology Crinkle Ribbon died with Vintage Photo Distressed ink and Broken China Distressed ink.  (I learned how to do this when I took a class from him at Scrapfest.)  He is an amazing person to take a class from.  You learn so much!  I finished it off with three copper mini brads from Oriental Trading company.  This also qualifies as a Monochromatic Color Scheme for the Operation Boot Camp Design ABCs of Color.  That is a great class by Paula on Color Theory.

OWH Sketch Challenge #124

For the Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge #124 I decided to use it to make the Father's Day Card for my Father-in-law.  I found this Rusty Tractor stamp at StampersBest.  My FIL loves John Deere Tractors and has and antique one that he has take to tractor shows.  Here is his Father's Day Card.
After stamping the two images (Rusty Tractor) and No1 Dad from American Art Stamps, I inked the paper with Tim Holtz Distressed ink in Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo and flicked some water on it to add interest.  The background paper is Tone on Tone Paper from Creative Memories Primary Digital Power Pallet.  I embossed it with a Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations embossing folder with gears on it.  Cardstock is from Creative Memories.  Brads are from Oriental Trading  Company.

OWH Our Daily Bread June Challenge

The Our Daily Bread Challenge for Operation Write Home for June was a shaped card. Our Daily Bread Designs sponsors the mailing costs of a box of cards to the troops for every 25 cards we post on the challenge.  Help OWH get to 50 cards so two boxes can be sponsored.  Here is my shaped card.
This will be a Any Hero card once I get the inside written.  This is a cut from the Wild Card Cricut Cartridge but it could be easily done by hand.  It will fit into a standard A2 size envelope.  I used the OWH Hero Arts Stamp set for the front.  The quote inside is from the Freedom isn't Free set by K.Andrew's Stamps and the Patriotic design underneath is from a set by Cloud 9 Design which I purchased at JoAnn's but I can't find a link anywhere for them.  Cardstock is Creative Memories.  Ink is Stampin'Up!, Basic Black, Island Indigo and Poppy Parade.  Brads are from Oriental Trading Company.

OWH Midweek Throwdown Love You Challenge

Operation Write Home's Midweek Throwdown Challenge is a card with a "Love You" theme.  I recently signed up to get Apron Strings Designs All Year Cheer Card Kit monthly.  It came with some beautiful papers and a wonderful newsletter with some great design ideas.  The inspiration for this card is from the May newsletter.
I updated the card based on the comments.  Thanks ladies for your expertise!

The beautiful DSP is from the Authentique Blissful Collection.  I inked the edges with Tim Holtz Distressed Ink in Tea Dye.  The cardstock is Creative Memories.  The fuzzy flowers are from Creative Charms but I replaced the fat pearl centers with small flat brads (Oriental Trading Company) since this card will be sent to Operation Write Home.  The sentiment is from the Hero Arts Operation Write Home collection.  I look forward to seeing you all on the Memorial Day Blog Hop!

OWH Thinking of You Challenge

Operation Write Home (OWH) Stars and Stamps is having a Thinking of You challenge.  In response to one of our troops asking for "brown" cards I created this steampunk "brown" card.
The card base is Stampin'Up! Crumb Cake.  The background is Tim Holtz Kraft Resist paper with Broken China Distress Stain.  The top set of stamps are "Time" from Stampington&Co.  The clock and sentiment are from the Operation Write Home Hero Arts set.  I inked the edges of the card with Antique Linen Distressed Ink.  The brad is from Oriental Trading Company.

Here is another "brown" card I made for Operation Write Home.
The background is stamped with Adirondak Paint Dabber in brown using the Stampin'Up! Belle Toile stamp (retired) and a Glitz stamp for the script.  The flowers are from Creative Memories new Power Pallet called Divine.  Ribbon is Stampin'Up! Very Vanilla as is the cardstock.  Sentiment is from Hero Arts Operation Write Home set.  Bling is from Creative Charms.

March ODBD Challenge at OWH Stars and Stamps

Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) is sponsoring a challenge to pay for mailing of two boxes of cards for Operation Write Home on their Stars and Stamps Blog.  The challenge involved a tic-tac-toe matrix that three items in a row had to be used.  I picked the first column requiring Brads, Digi Stamp, and a Die cut.  Here's what I came up with.
The intricate die cut at the bottom is a Spellbinder's Shapabilities.  The scalloped circle is from the Cricut Wild Card cartridge, The Bee is from the Cricut Home Decor cartridge.  The Digi Stamp is my own design using the Beans font and the Chancery Cursive Font.  Spellbinders Shapabilities were used to cut out the labels.  The brads are from Oriental Trading Company and the gems are from Creative Charms.
