Merry Making Day 5

The last day of the Online Card Classes Merry Making was a focus on watercolor.   I tried the watercolor through a stencil technique.

I am adding this to the Merry Monday challenge.

Merry Making day 4

The Online Card Classes Merry Making class Day 4 focus is on die cutting.  Here's a card that has not stamping at all.  Just die cuts.

CraftyColonel Donna Nuce for OCC Merry Making class, Elizabeth Craft and Memory Box die cuts.
I love the dimension on this card.  I didn't make it a shaker card but I coated the sentiment, snowflakes and snow with Wink of Stella for some shine.

Merry Making Day 3

Day 3 for the Online Card Classes Merry Making class was about using non-holiday stamps for holiday cards.  I pulled out my Club Scrap Woven Strands Celtic style stamps for this card.

Merry Making Day 2

This card for the Online Card Classes Merry Making Class was about paint resist.  I used a metallic paint in the background.  I love the way the metallic acrylic paint shines through all the distress ink and the stamping.  So pretty!

I added a little snow pen to the top of the joy sentiment and some snow ornaments on the trees.

Merry Making Day 1

I signed up for the Online Card Classes Merry Making card class.  One of the techniques on day 1 was a bokeh effect using Distress Oxide inks.  Here's the card I made using that background technique.

I used Stampin'Up's Night in Bethlehem and I am loving the layered city scene that comes with the matching dies.

Christmas Tags

I am taking the Online Card Classes Holiday Card Workshop 2014. I'm a little behind but I did get these two tags done to show in the class gallery.  One's a shaker tag.

I'll be back this week with a few more cards from the class!

Watercolor Stamping

Day 3 and 4 of Watercolor for Cardmakers has us doing watercolor stamping.  I used my Gelatos and the "Watercolor Blossoms" stamp set from Club Scrap.  I had to spray the stamp and stamp several times before I got an image that I liked.  The Gelatos either were too light or too watery.  Next time I might use my Distress Markers.  I have had better luck using them for watercolor stamping.  Check out my post HERE for an example with Distress Markers.

Watercolor For Cardmakers

Nothing like overloading myself with classes this week.  On top of the Layout a Day class I signed up for the Watercolor for Cardmakers class.  This card is a combination of two techniques from day 1 and day 2.  I used the Vibrant Watercolor Wash from Day 1 along with Jennifer McGuire Watercolor background technique using masking from day 2.  I was running low on artist's tape so I tried to use painter's tape.  I ripped my watercolor paper on one corner.  That's the last time I'll use painter's tape.  Off to buy some more artist's tape.

Inkspirational Challenge #4

The ladies over at the Inkspiration Challenge Blog have their fourth challenge it.  It is a Sketch Challenge.   Here is the sketch.

Here is my card.

When the card is open you can see that the heart is floating on the banner.

It hides a secret message inside the card!  This is a take off of a card by Jennifer McGuire from the Online Card Classes Holiday Card Workshop.  She put a small picture of her son underneath the heart.  The paper is from TPC Studio called My Funny Valentine Lucky Love.  The banner was cut using the Close To My Heart Artiste Cartridge.  The Love sentiment is from the Close To My Heart Roxie Kit.

I am also entering this at 52 Card Pickup.

I think I managed to get my camera to focus a little better by messing with some of the settings in the menu but the poor thing is still not working too good.

Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry 101 Day 3

I finally got some glossy paper to finish up Day 3 tags.  You can still register for the Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry 101 anytime, go HERE to find out how.  The videos and instruction sheets will be there forever and available anytime if you sign up.  The techniques for day 3 involved using Alcohol Ink and Archival Ink.  Here are my results.
Tag 1 used the Alcohol inks and I love how it turned out.  It shimmers in the light.  Tag 2 used various colored archival inks and then a black archival ink on top. I had a lot of trouble with the stamp I used and salvaged the tag because I don't have time to do it over.  The ink smeared in the bottom and didn't print on top.  Glossy paper is hard to stamp on.  The Third tag involves stamping on an embossing folder and having it transfer to your tag.  Interesting technique, it does require an embossing folder with a lot of open space.

Back with Days 4-10 later!

Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry 101 Day 2

I am taking the Tim Holtz Creative chemistry 101 Class at Online Card Classes.  You can still register for it.  Tim is such a creative person.  This class is understanding how all the Ranger ink, dyes and paper work together (and sometimes against each other).  Here are the first three tags from Day 2 (Day 1 was introductory).

These tags use the distressed ink.  I love the middle tag.  It is a watercolor stamping technique.  I have learned a lot about how these inks react with water and to each other.  Fun class.
