I have been playing with Ranger Alcohol Inks after watching Tim Holtz at Creativation 2020 doing some techniques with them. I watched some You Tube videos also and learned some new things. This is my first attempt.
I started by trying to do a rainbow using a protractor and felt (
Jennifer McGuire technique). I used the pearl Alcohol inks (Intrigue, Tranquil, Sublime, Alchemy, Splendor, Enchantment and Deception in that order). On the translucent Yupo I thought the colors were too washed out. So I started dripping Dandelion, Coral, Pistacio and Silver Mixative on top of the rainbow. Then I saw on a You Tube video that you can use Sharpie Fine Points to doodle on the Alcohol ink. So I doodled some flowers and use my Alcohol pen to pick up colors and fill in the doodles. Then after I trimmed down the Yupo to fit a A2 card I die cut flowers from the trimmed off Yupo and glued them on to the card. I added glitter glue on the centers of the flowers and a silver foil sentiment.
My second attempt was for a challenge on the
Club Scrap Blog I wanted a faux turquoise look to the alcohol inks.
After spraying Yupo with 90% Isopropel Alcohol I dripped Pearl Alcohol Inks in Celestial and Tranquil onto the Yupo. I then added some Gold Mixative and tried to get it to make veins in the ink using a pin to push it around. Didn't get the look I was going for so I used the texture stamp in this month's
Club Scrap Turquoise stamps and stamped in Versa Mark and Ranger Gold Super Find Detail EP. After trimming to the size of the stamp I mounted it with Club Scrap cardstock from the
Turquoise Pack of Panels paper. I use
OWH Sketch #195 for this card. The "you're a gem" stamp is also in the stamp set.
If you haven't played with your Alcohol Inks in a while maybe you can be inspired by getting them out and playing with them.
Happy Crafting!
