Cards in Envy Cute and Cuddly

It's time for a new challenge on the Cards in Envy blog.  For the next two week we want to see cards with something you find cute and cuddly (teddy bears, bunnies, etc).  Cute cards are not something I do a lot of.  But I was able to come up with an OWH stamp with this cute little lamb on it.

CraftyColonel Donna Nuce for Cards in Envy blog, Image Hero Arts, Sentiment Rubber Cafe

The lamb is from the Hero Arts OWH Missing You set.  The sentiment is from the Rubber Cafe - I think the Hero Arts lamb is cuter but I like the Rubber Cafe sentiment.
Come join us on the Cards in Envy blog and see what the super-great design team cooked up!
Don't forget you cards must be A2 size ( 4.25 x 5.5) and flat enough to fit in an envy for mailing.

Stretch Your Stamps 2 Bonus Day

The Bonus Day at Stretch Your Stamps 2 Online Card Classes was all about "Color Me" Stamps.  They showed some cute ways to use these stamps besides coloring them.  I used the "Paper Piecing" method for my card but there were some cute watercolor ideas also.

The bird and sentiment is part of a Hero Arts Operation Write Home fundraising stamp set.  It has very cute puns with an owl, a sheep, a squirrel, and a moose.  I used a Memory Box "Bare Sapling" die for the branch and Puffy Cloud die for the vellum.  DP is October Afternoon.
I'm a little behind in class now, will try to catch up before we head out to Blue Mesa Reservoir for some camping!

OWH Virtual Cardmaking Party Challenges 4 5 and 6

I am also enter the last card in the Moxie Fab World Wonder Words Challenge.

This weekend Operation Write Home is having a Virtual Cardmaking Party (VCMP).  There's 5 challenges scheduled every 2 hours throughout the day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Lots of goodies to be given away if you play along.

Challenge 4 is on Lori's Kreations blog.  She asked us to make a Red, White & Blue Birthday card.  Here's my card.

Challenge 5 is on the Bunny Scrap Blog.  She asked us to make our own backgrounds with paint or ink.  I used alcohol ink and a technique I learned on Virgina Lu's blog (Yes, Virginia).

Challenge 6 is on JoAnn Ross' blog (who is a great author also).  She asked us to make two cards, one Christmas and one Winter type card.

I used my Envelope Punch Board to make these cute little file folders.  I am also entering these file folders in the Moxie Fab World Wonderful Words Challenge.

Back later!

OWH Midweek Throwdown Tic Tac Toe

The Midweek Throwdown this week for Operation Write Home was a Tic Tac Toe Grid for us to choose from.

I chose Ribbon, Tag and Rhinestones.  I was using up some of my stash.  I always liked this vintage paper but it is time to let it go and have someone else enjoy it too! :-)

DSP and Tag is Creative Memories Vintage Romance (only available in a digital version now).  Sentiment is Hero Arts OWH Set Right At Home.  I embossed the sentiment using Versamark Ink and Zing Opaque White Embossing Powder.  I toned down the white with a little Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distressed ink.  Ribbon is from my stash.

Virtual Card Making Party - Things With Wings

I don't seem to be doing these challenges in order but I hope to get them all done by February 25th!  You can get started on them over at the Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps Blog.  Yvonne over at Penguin Papers challenged us to make a card that has something with wings.

This is another card made from my February Apron Strings Designs All Year Cheer Card Kit.  I love that little wooden birdie and the colorful birdie paper!  So cute.  Everything to make the card came from the kit with the exception of the brad on the flower and the sentiment which is Hero Arts for Operation Write Home Right at Home (CL583).  The paper is Echo Park - So Happy.

InKspirational Challenge #1

My blogger friend Ellen Parker over at "In a World of Craft"  has helped start a new challenge blog called "InKspirational".  Their first challenge is a color challenge using Black, Dark Pink and Kiwi.  This was a tough one for me since I don't usually go for the bright colors.  Here is my card.

The Cricut die cuts are from the Home Decor Cartridge.  The Epic Love Stamp is from Operation Write Home Hero Arts Stamp Set .  The paper is from K&Company "Brenda Walton Mira Sepcialty Paper Pad" and the ribbon is from my stash.  (Someday I'll learn to tie pretty bows!)

OWH Sketch Challenge #131

Well I am back from  vacation and being sick and have my MOJO working again.  Here is my take on Operation Write Home Sketch #131.

The papers are from a BoBunny Kit called Timepiece.  I bought this kit just with the intention of making OWH cards.  I finally got around to using it.  The sentiment is the OWH Hero Arts and I used Tim Holtz Walnut and Vintage Photo Distressed ink.  Ribbon is from my stash.

OWH Our Daily Bread June Challenge

The Our Daily Bread Challenge for Operation Write Home for June was a shaped card. Our Daily Bread Designs sponsors the mailing costs of a box of cards to the troops for every 25 cards we post on the challenge.  Help OWH get to 50 cards so two boxes can be sponsored.  Here is my shaped card.
This will be a Any Hero card once I get the inside written.  This is a cut from the Wild Card Cricut Cartridge but it could be easily done by hand.  It will fit into a standard A2 size envelope.  I used the OWH Hero Arts Stamp set for the front.  The quote inside is from the Freedom isn't Free set by K.Andrew's Stamps and the Patriotic design underneath is from a set by Cloud 9 Design which I purchased at JoAnn's but I can't find a link anywhere for them.  Cardstock is Creative Memories.  Ink is Stampin'Up!, Basic Black, Island Indigo and Poppy Parade.  Brads are from Oriental Trading Company.

OWH Midweek Throwdown Love You Challenge

Operation Write Home's Midweek Throwdown Challenge is a card with a "Love You" theme.  I recently signed up to get Apron Strings Designs All Year Cheer Card Kit monthly.  It came with some beautiful papers and a wonderful newsletter with some great design ideas.  The inspiration for this card is from the May newsletter.
I updated the card based on the comments.  Thanks ladies for your expertise!

The beautiful DSP is from the Authentique Blissful Collection.  I inked the edges with Tim Holtz Distressed Ink in Tea Dye.  The cardstock is Creative Memories.  The fuzzy flowers are from Creative Charms but I replaced the fat pearl centers with small flat brads (Oriental Trading Company) since this card will be sent to Operation Write Home.  The sentiment is from the Hero Arts Operation Write Home collection.  I look forward to seeing you all on the Memorial Day Blog Hop!

OWH Rebel Challenge #1

Instead of making scrapbook pages for National Scrapbook Weekend -- I'm making cards for Operation Write Home.  The first challenge is to make a card for a child using paper piecing.  I just got this new stamp from Stampers Best and it was perfect for paper piecing.

The paper is from Fancy Pants Designs.  The I Love You stamp is from the OWH Hero Arts set.
Happy Crafting and Happy National Scrapbook weekend!
