Club Scrap Navigation Blog Hop

Welcome to the Club Scrap Navigation Blog Hop.  If you came here from Debby Hernandez's blog you are in the right place.  If you would like to start at the beginning of the blog hop go HERE to the Club Scrap blog to start.

I get my Club Scrap Digital Kit at the beginning of the month.

This is a great travel kit and very "ocean or seaside" looking so I created two pages of a short day trip I made to Tybee Island Georgia while I was attending a conference in Savannah.

I used the Quick Drop Digital Pages and my Panstoria Artisan 5 Software to create the pages.  With the Digital Member monthly subscription kit you get both Quick Drop pages, Photoshop Element Pages and all the digital paper and embellishments.

I waited patiently for my Club Stamp Kit to arrive.  It ships on the 20th of each month.  I also get the Art Nouveau Stamp, Greetings Stamp, Borders and Backgrounds Stamp and the Embellishment Kit shipped with the Club Stamp kit.  I decided I wanted to do the ACLM cards this month.  As I was stamping the gorgeous lantern image, I realized it would make a great sympathy card.  The sentiments I used are not from Club Scrap but the Bible verse is perfect for the Club Stamp image.

Time for another challenge at Cards in Envy challenge blog.  Show us your cards with snowmen, snowflakes, snowy scenes.  I opted for the snowy scene.

Crafty Colonel Donna Nuce for Cards in Envy blog, Lawn Fawn Winter Bunny, Stampin Up Sleigh Ride and Jingle all the Way, Winter Card

I used shimmer cardstock for the sky and snow.  The background was cut with Stampin'Up Sleigh Ride die.  The bunny is Lawn Fawn Winter Bunny.  The sentiment is from Stampin'Up Jingle All the Way.
This is my last post before Christmas so I wish everyone a Merry Christmas!
I'll be back on December 30th with the Club Scrap Navigation Blog hop.

Club Scrap Watercolor Christmas Bloghop

Welcome to the Club Scrap Watercolor Christmas blog hop.  If you arrived here from Josette's blog you are in the right place.  If you would like to start at the beginning of the bloghop go HERE.

For this hop I made a card using the Club Scrap Watercolor Christmas Stamps.

CraftyColonel Donna Nuce for Club Scrap Watercolor Christmas Bloghop, Christmas Card
I'll admit I was a little challenged by the bird stamp but if you let it dry after you stamp (I stamped wet on wet paper) then you can go back and add details with a fine brush to give the bird form.  I used Sanketi's birds as examples to finish off mine.  I used Arches Aquarelle Cold Pressed 140 Lb 3.9" x 9.8" Watercolor Block to stamp the bird.  Watercolor Blocks are fabulous because you don't have to tape your paper down. Bird is stamped with Ranger Barn Door Distressed Ink (Distressed inks really are fabulous for watercolor) and details added with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Watercolor pens and a #2 Round Watercolor brush.   I used a white gel pen for the bird's eye.  I loaded my #2 brush with red and then gold ink and tapped it on my finger to get the sprinkles around the bird.

The card is made with items from the Club Scrap Moroccan Spice Club Stamp kitEmbellishment Pack and Club Scrap Metallic Ink Gold.    The joy stamp I used is from the Club Scrap Lock & Key because it was small enough to fit on my tag.

Now head on over to Anne Marie's blog.

Club Scrap Moroccan Spice Blog Hop

Welcome to the Club Scrap Moroccan Spice Blog Hop.
If you arrived here from Debby Hernandez's blog you are in the right place.  If you arrived here from somewhere else and would like to start at the beginning of the blog hop, go HERE to the Club Scrap Blog to start.

I subscribe to the Club Scrap Digital kit that arrives on the first of the month.  It is a great way to start playing right away while I await my Club Stamp kit, Embellishment kit, Art Nouveau stamp, Borders and Background stamp and Greetings stamp.

Club Scrap Moroccan Spice Digital Kit

This kit is very versatile and just about any photos you have make for a great page.  I created this page using a Creative Memories pre-designed page and replacing their papers with Moroccan Spice papers.

Crafty Colonel Donna Nuce for Club Scrap Moroccan Spice Blog Hop, 12x12 scrapbook page.
This donut store in Colo. Springs is amazing!  They had a bacon maple donut and even had camouflage doughnuts (desert camo) for the troops stationed at Ft. Carson and Peterson Field.

When my Club Stamp kit arrived after the 20th of the month I created this card.  I didn't have much time to play as it just arrived on Monday.

Crafty Colonel Donna Nuce for Club Scrap Moroccan Spice Blog Hop, Christmas Card,
The sparkly ribbon in the Club Stamp Kit really makes an elegant Christmas card.   I put a very light layer of gold stickle around the edge of the ornaments to add extra sparkle and gold heat embossed the sentiment.
(Note:  Sentiment is not Club Scrap but everything else is.)

Next up on the blog hop is Lisa Dolezal.  If you would like to start at the beginning of the hop go HERE to the Club Scrap blog.

Shopping Our Stash Western

I just barely had time to get this card done for the Shopping Our Stash Western Challenge.  This is a Christmas card for a dear friend who has horses.  I wanted to have them peeking through the barn window with Christmas greenery.

Crafty Colonel Donna Nuce for Shopping Our Stash Challenge, Impression Obsession horse stamp, SU Hardwood, Christmas Card

I used an Impression Obsession stamp I have had for a while and had not used.  I watercolored it.  Stampin'Up Hardwood and Versatile Christmas on the barn door.

Cards in Envy Extra Layers

Our challenge for the next two weeks on the Cards in Envy blog is to "Put some extra layers on."  You can have layers on your card or images depicting lots of layers (sweaters, scarfs, coats etc).  I chose to layer my card.  All counted there are 7 layers on this card but it still fits in a standard A2 envelope (a requirement for our challenge).

Crafty Colonel Donna Nuce for Cards in Envy Challenge Blog, CTMH Pear & Partridge, Christmas Card

I had a scrap of this Close to My Heart Pear and Partridge paper left.  I double stamped the sentiment in brown and covering up the merry little Christmas part and then again in red over the brown.  I added a few little stickles over the card for some shine.
Come join us on the Cards in Envy blog and see what the marvelous Design Team has cooked up.  Then add your card to the challenge!

CASE-ing Christmas CASE-ing Myself

It's time for another CASE-ing Christmas challenge.  This month we are CASE-ing one of my cards.

Inspired by Stamping, Crafty Colonel, Whimsical Banners, Elegant Christmas Sentiments, Christmas Card

The original card was made using non-Christmas stamps for a Christmas card.
This time I used Christmas Stamps to make my CASE.  The sky has some Wink of Stella on it for sparkle.  I used the Stampin'Up! Jingle All the Way Stamps and the Sleigh Ride Edgelits.  The snowflake gems are from the Oriental Trading Company.

You know you've lived a long time when the young Major you hired as the Assistant to the General's Staff is now a Brigadier General himself.  I was thrilled for him!  I attended his pinning ceremony and made this card for him.

Cards in Envy Gratitude Challenge

The new challenge at Cards in Envy is Gratitude.  Let's see your Thanksgiving cards or Thank You cards.  I decided to do a Thank You card with a fall theme.

It's a little hard to see but I gold embossed a farm scene over the DSP.  The sentiment is gold embossed also.  Cardstock, DSP, background stamp and ribbon are all Club Scrap.  Thank You sentiment is Close To My Heart.

House of Cards Stamped Punch Window Challenge

We have a technique challenge for November over on the House of Cards Challenge Blog.  There's a video on how to do this technique on the challenge blog.  Here's my card for the challenge.

Crafty Colonel Donna Nuce for House of Cards Challenge blog, Stamp Punch Window technique, Stampin'Up Stamps and punch, Christmas Card.

As you can see the sentiments are recessed inside the punch hole.  It gives the card a unique look.  Hard to see but the ribbons are gold shiny  pen and I covered the ornaments with Wink of Stella.

Come join us over at the House of Cards and play along with us!  Check out what the other Design Team members did with this technique!

Club Scrap Big Top Blog Hop

Welcome to the Club Scrap Big Top Blog Hop.
If you arrived here from Donna Coughlin's blog you are in the right place.  If you arrived here from somewhere else and would like to start at the beginning of the bloghop,
This month I subscribed to the Club Scrap Digital Kit, (Look at how gorgeous it is).

Since the digital kit comes at the first of the month I had fun making this layout.  When I saw the "not my monkeys" quote I knew that my great nieces and nephew pictures would make a great page with this quote.  I used Panstoria Artisan 4  Software and a Blueprint from Pixels2Pages to make this page.

When my Club Stamp Kit I wanted to make a card that was in the shape of a Circus Tent.  I recently bought a Cricut Explore and I found a circus tent bi-fold card.  Unfortunately, there is still a learning curve for me with my Cricut Explore.  I did not have the scoring stylus and did not realize that without the scoring tool the Cricut would cut the score lines instead of leaving them alone.  So I had to paper piece the inside of the card to get it to fold up instead of  having three separate pieces.  I now have the scoring stylus on order.
Mission accomplished and here is my card.

The card closed up with stamped designs on the front.

First fold opened with the stamped sentiments.

Card totally open with plenty of room for a thank you note inside.

Next up on the blog hop is Hetty Sanders our talented friend from the Netherlands.  If you would like to start at the beginning of the blog hop go HERE to the Club Scrap Blog.

Cards in Envy Trick or Treat

The challenge at Cards in Envy for the next two weeks is Trick or Treat (Halloween cards that make us think of Trick or Treating).  Here's my card for the challenge.

CraftyColonel Donna Nuce, Stampin'Up Greeting Card Kids and Best of Halloween, Zig clean color brush markers, Halloween Card.
Yes even though this is a fancy fold card, it still folds up flat to 4.25 x 5.5 so it will fit in a standard envelope (the requirement for playing our challenge).  I used the Stampin'Up! Thinlits circle card die to cut the card out.   The image is NBUS for me (even though it is retired from Stampin'Up!).  I colored it with my new Zig clean color brush markers.  I took a class at Scrapbook Expo when they were in town 2 weeks ago.  I really like working with these watercolor markers.  Here's a look at the card open.

Crafty Colonel Donna Nuce, Stampin'Up! Thinlits Circle Card Die, Greeting Card Kids and Best of Halloween. Halloween Card

My trick for the sentiment is to stamp it with Jet Black Archival ink and emboss it with clear embossing powder.  That way you don't get any black dots of embossing powder showing but still get a clean dark black shiny image.

Come join us for some Halloween challenge fun over at the Cards in Envy blog.

House of Cards October Challenge

It's time for another challenge at the House of Cards.
This month we are asking for cards with:

Add texture &/or Color Challenge
autumn palette

I somehow saw the dark color as more of an eggplant color.  Now it looks more like a really dark green on my screen.  Anyway here's my card.

I used CTMH Poster Tidings in the background and CTMH Bountiful Season for the center.  I added texture to the stitched squares and cut the leaf out and popped it over the ribbon.  Ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  This card is going to my Chiropracter as an apology for missing a scheduled appointment with them.  I hate when I over commit myself!

Come on over to the House of Cards and show us your colorful creations this month!

I get my digital kit on the first day of the month. I loved the oriental theme to this kit.  I also loved Julie's Faux Tile Layout.  I decided to try to re-create it in digital mode.  Here's what I came up with.

Crafty Colonel Donna Nuce, Club Scrap Transformations Digital Kit, Digital Scrapbook Page

I used Overlay #3 with a blue background in the digital kit and the cut it up and rounded the corners and backed it with a contrasting tan background.  I use Panstoria Artisan software for my digital scrapbooking.

After my Club Stamp kit came I made a card using only the Embellishment Kit.  I loved that pretty design of the Ginko leaves and coins.  I also liked the line of bamboo in the kit.  I cut out a coin and popped it on the card for some dimension.

Never Forget

Fourteen years ago today I was standing in the Headquarters of the Army National Guard in Arlington, VA.  I was watching a TV screen with the video clip of the planes flying into the twin towers.  As I continued on with my business in the office of the headquarters we discovered that the Pentagon had been hit also.  We were told to leave the building because they could not be sure how many planes were waiting to attack Federal Government buildings.  We began our hour long car trek through Washington D.C. traffic to get back to the hotel that was right across from the Pentagon.  We had nowhere else to go.  I couldn't even call my parents and husband to tell them I was safe as all the cell phone towers were jammed. (I was never sure if it was on purpose or because everyone was trying to call).  That evening as we watched the Pentagon burn from a room high up in our hotel, we realized that our world had changed dramatically. We were allowed to fly home the next day in our military airplane (because we had our General with us).  I know many people had a much harder time getting home during that next week.

I just finished reading this book and would hope that my blog readers will take the time to read this book.  Because of my duty positions in the Colorado Army National Guard I never had the opportunity to deploy during Desert Storm or Operation Enduring Freedom.  But my utmost honor and respect goes out to all my fellow service members who did deploy.  My deepest respect goes to service women who did deploy and for those who never made it home. This is the story of some of the best of the best service women in the military.  The cream of the crop.
As we Americans go about our day to day business not thinking about those who serve and protect us both here and abroad, please take the time to remember this horrible day in our history and how important our military members are to us.

God Bless and Protect the United States of America!

I get my digital kit on the first day of the month.  I have an old Weimeraner (one of seven that we have had over thirty years)  I decided it was time to scrap his story and get a good picture of him before he heads off to the Rainbow Bridge (hopefully not anytime soon).  The Woven Strands kit seemed a perfect kit to showcase my fur baby!  He's such a mellow dog for being a Weimeraner.
