Ellen Hutson LLC Hero Arts Wood Take 'n Make

This is my second entry into the Hero Arts contests over at the Ellen Hutson Blog "The Classroom".   This entry is for the Ellen Hutson LLC Hero Arts Wood Take 'n Make.

The wood stamp in my background is Hero Arts French Post (K5354).  The world and sentiment are from a Hero Arts Operation Write Home Clear Stamp Set (CL645).  The paper is BoBunny Timepiece Dot.  Ink is Tim Holtz Distressed Ink in Vintage Photo.

If I get a chance tomorrow I will post a cling stamp entry.

Ellen Hutson LLC Hero Arts Clear Take 'n Make

There is a contest going on over at the Ellen Hutson Blog "The Classroom".   It is the Ellen Hutson LLC Hero Arts Clear Take 'n Make.   I created a project using  the Hero Arts Clear Stamp set Amour.

I used the Cuttlebug Damask Hearts embossing folder and then lightly sponged over the top with Tim Holtz Distressed Ink in Tattered Rose and over the top of the sentiment too.  There is a contest for Hero Arts Cling Take 'n Make and Wood Take 'n Make also.  I am going to try to enter the other two contests also.

Holiday Card Workshop Day 6

UPDATED!  Day 6 of the Online Card Classes Holiday Card Workshop is all about inking techniques.

For the dot background I used a Stampin'Up! stamp and wet embossed with opaque white embossing powder.  I cut a mask from heavy acetate using my Tim Holtz Sizzix Alterations Snow Flurries.  Then I applied Tim Holtz Peacock Feathers, Seedless Preserves and Salty Ocean inks to the cards.  I applied a coat of Perfect Pearl over the card.  The delicate snowflakes are a Memory Box Die and the larger punched snowflake is from Creative Memories.  Sentiment and label punches are from Stampin'Up!

The second card for the day was a faux stained glass.  I had the perfect stamp for this that I have had for many, many years.

I only cut the top half of my Creative Memories Shimmer White Paper with the Stampin'Up! Apothecary Arts Framelits.  This gave it a steeple look.  I embossed the Shimmer Paper with the Cuttlebug Paper Lace Damask folder.  The stamp was colored in with Tim Holtz Distressed Markers and then painted with Perfect Pearls Gold.

Holiday Card Workshop Day 4

I am trying hard to get caught up with the Online Card Classes Holiday Card Workshop.  With each day showing at least two and maybe three card examples there is a lot to choose from.  This card is an example of coloring with distressed inks.

I started with a piece of 110lb paper but had to switch to Ranger Specialty Stamping paper.  I used Ranger Black Archival Ink and embossed with Ranger super Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder.  The red is Tim Holtz Festive Berry Distressed ink applied with a watercolor brush.  I used my Distressed Markers in Pine Needles, Antique Linen and Tumbled Glass to color the rest of the image.  The stamp from Great Impressions (c) 2006 the I picked up at http://www.123stitch.com/ in their clearance section.  You can get some good deals there.  I keep making these small 3x3 cards because I will use them for Christmas giving this year.

I also completed another Valentine card for operation write home using the example that Julie Ebersole showed us on Day 3.

I used the Cuttlebug Damask Hearts Embossing folder.  The hears are coated with diamond stickles and then Glossy accents is applied over them (can't take a chance on any glitter getting on our troops)!

Holiday Card Workshop Day 3

Day 3 of Online Card Classes Holiday Card Workshop.  A different way of scoring backgrounds.  You don't have to score evenly.  Love the plaid look to this.

Yes, I know this is not a holiday card but Operation Write Home is already asking for Valentine's Day cards.   The Holiday cards are already in the mail to our troops.  I cut the images wit the Close to My Heart Art Philosophy Cartridge.  The stamp set is Close to My Heart "Mad About You."  I used Ranger Vermilion Archival Ink and Momento Rich Cocoa Ink.  The background is sponged with Tim Holtz Peacock Feathers Distressed Ink.

I hope you remembered to turn your clocks back!

Holiday Card Workshop Day 2

I am loving all the ideas I am getting from the Online Card Classes Holiday Card Workshop.  Here is my take on Jennifer McGuire's Card for Day 2.

The sentiment is from The Paper Studio and stamped in Ranger Vermillion Archival Ink.  I used a Stampin'Up! Edgelit Die to trim the card edges.  The heart punch is from Stampin'Up!  I used a subtle polka dot background on the kraft cardstock and the green ornament.  I edge the ornament hole and heart with gold leaf pen.  Jennifer put a baby picture under her heart.  My baby is 23 years old, so I stamped a Peace and Joy sentiment under my heart!

I also finished a card from the Day 1 example.

I had a hard time lining up the stamps from my example.  This was not an easy card for me but I do like how it turned out.  Stamps and sentiment are from The Paper Studio.  Inks are Stampin'Up! Tempting Turquoise, Pacific Point, Wisteria Wonder and Tim Holtz Distressed Peacock Feathers.

30th Wedding Anniversary

Thirty years of wedded bliss to the same wonderful man!  Here's a peek at the outside of the card that I made to give him today.

I generated my own sentiment using Creative Memories Storybook Creator 4.0.  The fonts are Lucinda Bright and Aquiline.  The 30 is stamped with Close to My Heart Bohemian Alphabet using Tim Holtz Walnut  Stain Distressed Ink and then coated with Ranger Glossy Accents.  I also used Glossy Accents over the "Love Story" letters.  The paper is from a Simple Stories 6x6 Documented Pad.  Lace and Ribbon are from my stash.  I inked the lace with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distressed Ink so it would match the paper.

Happy Crafting and Happy Anniversary to my Dear Husband!

Doodle Pantry Digital Challenge #28

The Doodle Pantry Blog is doing digital challenge #28.  The prize for participating is a beautiful digital image of poppies!  My daughter especially loves poppies.  Also poppies are a symbol for Veterans Day.  So I just had to participate in the challenge to get that image!  Here is my card.

This was the August challenge freebie but because of vacation I never entered the challenge.  Those ants on the moon are so darling.  The background paper is from the Creative Memories Discover Baby Boy Digital Kit  for Storybook Creator 4.0.  I thought the distressing in the upper left corner looks like tree leaves behind them.  The paper says "precious baby boy" all over it.  I printed the design twice so I could cut out and pop the stars and sentiment for some dimension.  The Sweet Dreams sentiment is die cut with the Stampin'Up! Apothecary Accent Framelit and inked with Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass Distressed Ink.  Bling is from Creative Charms.

OWH Sketch Challenge 140

It has been a while since I did a sketch challenge for OWH.  You will be seeing another from me when we have the World Card Making Day Bloghop on 6 October!  Here is my card from OWH Sketch 140.

The background paper is from a Simple Stories "Documented" 6x6 paper pack.  The lettering is from an unknown scrap and the damask print and postcard are from the same Simple Stories paper pack.   The LOVE lettering is from the Simple Stories Document Expressions Cardstock Stickers page (item #2303).  I inked everything with Tim Holtz Brushed Corduroy Distressed Ink.  The little bit of lace was a scrap laying on my work table and the card just needed a little something to finish it off.

VCMP Challenge 8

I am finishing up the challenges from the Virtual Card Making Party (VCMP).  Challenge eight was to make a sports themed card.  This was perfect for me because my DH birthday is coming up this month and I needed a card for him. He coaches High School Baseball in the summer.

I was at a loss for a sketch idea until I noticed Paula's Card in the links.  I CASEd her card.  Thank you Paula!

VCMP Challenge 5

Challenge 5 for the Virtual Card Making Party (VCMP) was to make a card with a Western theme (Cowboys or Horses).  Lucky for me I recently purchased this stamp at the Rubber Stamp Expo in Colorado Springs.  The three horses remind me of my friend Linda who has three beautiful but aging horses. I bought this stamp to make a birthday card for her.

Materials Used:
Authentique Genuine Paper and sticker
Judy Duke Rubber Stamps (Horses, Brush Background, Pebbles)
Stampin'Up River Rock and Chocolate Chip Ink
Tim Holtz Distressed Inks Chipped Sapphire and Vintage Photo

I tried scanning the card instead of photographing it because I was tired of my camera distorting the squareness of my card.  The pop-dotted image makes the background paper fuzzy so that doesn't seem to be the answer either.  Any ides on how to get my camera to behave?

Virtual Card Making Party Challenge 2

The next challenge at the Virtual Card Making Party (hereafter referred to as VCMP) was a recipe challenge of 1 image, 2 designer papers and 3 words.  Here is my take on the challenge.

I had fun with the "ribbon candy" using the idea that Sandy Allnock posted on the May Arts You Tube Channel.  The top DSP is the Luxury Paper Collection from Raspberry Road Designs.  I got it free by subscribing to Cardmaking and Papercraft Magazine.  I stamped the paper with two stamps from the Stampers Best Sewing Kit Stamp Set using Tea Dye distressed ink.  I stamped the scissors from the same set  and the sentiment from Great Impression Stamps on Stampin'Up! Very Vanilla card stock using Vintage Photo distressed ink.  I used Stampin'Up! Apothecary Accents framelit to cut out the sentiment and hand cut the background cardstock to frame it.  The second DSP is from the Creative Memories Give Thanks Digital Kit.  The pink pearls are from Creative Charms (sadly no longer in business).  See you at the next challenge!

Labor Day Weekend Virtual Card Making Party

Operation Write Home is have a Virtual Card Making Party this weekend.  Play along with the challenges or just comment for a chance to win some prizes!

The first challenge was to  create cards which include either a Scripture verse, or an uplifting quote or sentiment.  It was sponsored by Our Daily Bread Designs.  I just bought some sentiments from them recently and this is the first time I inked one up.  Here is my card for Challenge 1.

I had this Trick or Treat Paper from Fancy Pants designs that I had not used but I like the back side of it.  I stamped the Stampin'Up! En Francais with Tea Dye distressed ink and then stamped the leaves from Stampin'Up! French Foliage with Rusty Hings distressed ink.  The torn DSP is from Creative Memories Give Thanks digital kit.  I inked the edges of the DSP and stamped the sentiment with Vintage Photo distressed ink.  The gold leaf sticker is from EK Success Stickopotomus.  I finished it with a ribbon from my stash.

Happy Crafting!  I'll be back with another challenge soon.

Boo Peeps!

Yes two posts in one day --amazing!  I actually am getting some cards made for Operation Write Home.  The Halloween themed cards are due to the shippers by August 31.  I made these two cards with some very cute 'Peep" stamps that I found at the Stamp and Scrap Expo in Colorado Springs in July.

The stamps are by Elaine Madrid and her website is www.carmensverandarubberstamps.com.  She didn't have a picture of them on her website.  The sheet of Rubber stamps included a Bunny Peep and Christmas Peeps of Gingerbread man and women, Christmas tree, Snowman and Christmas Cookie.  I look forward to making some cute Peep Christmas Cards very soon    I made the sentiment on my computer using BlackKnight font and cut it out with Stampin'Up! Itty Bitty Banners dies.  The large banner is Tim Holtz Sizzix Alterations (trimmed down to fit the card). I inked all edges with Tim Holtz Distressed Ink in either Black Soot or Rusty Hinge.  The Designer Paper is Authentique and it is gorgeous!  That's it for today, I have to get back to work and fill up my card box to mail off to Operation Write Home this week.

OWH Midweek Throwdown Encouragement

The Midweek Throwdown theme at Operation Write Home is Encouragement.  Here is my take on the theme.  I am now trending toward fall since those cards need to be in by August 31.

The DSP papers are from Creative Memories Give Thanks Digital Kit (one of my favorites).  The stamp is a retired Stampin'Up! from the Grand Cornucopia set.  The sentiment is from the Operation Write Home Hero Arts Set.  I used Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distressed Ink and colored with the Distressed Markers.  Card Stock is Creative Memories.

OWH Sketch Challenge #131

Well I am back from  vacation and being sick and have my MOJO working again.  Here is my take on Operation Write Home Sketch #131.

The papers are from a BoBunny Kit called Timepiece.  I bought this kit just with the intention of making OWH cards.  I finally got around to using it.  The sentiment is the OWH Hero Arts and I used Tim Holtz Walnut and Vintage Photo Distressed ink.  Ribbon is from my stash.

My Brother's Birthday Card

Both my husband and my brother love Chevy Chevelle.  My brother is in the process of restoring one now.  So when I found this Chevelle stamp and the Gears stamp at Stampers Best I snapped them up!  My inspiration for this card was from Ellen over at In a World of Craft.  She created a cool card for her son with all kinds of gears that you can see HERE. Here is my take on Ellen's card.

The background paper is October Afternoon "Kick the Can."  I used Athentique "Blissful" in both 12x12 and the 6x6 pad for the different layers.  The gears are Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations "Steampunk."  The birthday sentiment is from TPC Studios.  Ink is Tim Holtz Distressed ink in Vintage Photo and Black Soot.
So here's wishing my brother a Happy Birthday today!  Thanks for looking.

Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge 127

The Sketch Challenge at Operation Write is #127 this week.  Here is my version of the sketch.

As I was digging through my stash of paper I found a 12x12 pad of paper I forgot I had.  It was from K&Co and it was all neutrals (one of my favorites).  The ink is Tim Holtz Distressed Ink in Vintage Photo (another favorite of mine).  The Stampin'Up! set is Elements of Style.  I love the hummingbird.  I was able to use the new Stampin'Up! Apothecary Accents Framelits for the sentiment and sentiment border and just trimmed a little off the top and bottom to get the look I wanted.
Thanks for looking.

OWH Sketch Challenge #124

For the Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge #124 I decided to use it to make the Father's Day Card for my Father-in-law.  I found this Rusty Tractor stamp at StampersBest.  My FIL loves John Deere Tractors and has and antique one that he has take to tractor shows.  Here is his Father's Day Card.
After stamping the two images (Rusty Tractor) and No1 Dad from American Art Stamps, I inked the paper with Tim Holtz Distressed ink in Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo and flicked some water on it to add interest.  The background paper is Tone on Tone Paper from Creative Memories Primary Digital Power Pallet.  I embossed it with a Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations embossing folder with gears on it.  Cardstock is from Creative Memories.  Brads are from Oriental Trading  Company.
