Every Month the Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps Blog hosts an Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge. For every 25 cards posted to the challenge Our Daily Bread Designs will pay to ship one large box of cards overseas to our troops! This months challenge was to have embossing on a card. Here is my card for the challenge.
This card looks deceptively easy but I will tell you I goofed on two sheets of the black flocked paper because I cut the angle the wrong direction! Since I had already glued down the cream embossed paper I had no choice but to keep at it. I can make four more cards with the wrong angled sheets as long as I cut the other half correctly! LOL
The paper is from Die Cuts With a View (DCWV) La Creme Matstack. The flower and velvet rickrack are from Creative Charms (sadly no longer in business). The sentiment is from K.Andrew Designs "Winged Things" stamp set. (no longer available on her website) The die cut label is from Stampin'Up!
I encourage you to make a card and post it to the Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps Blog so we can meet our goal of 50 cards.
Happy Crafting!

I wish I could feel the lovely velvet on your card; it looks wonderfully soft. The distressing you did on the cream paper really sets off the embossed design. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Donna, I was just going over the OWH sketches and was thinking about how I haven't done a diagonal 1/2 and 1/2 card in awhile, and here on your blog is a gorgeous one! I can sympathize about cutting out the papers, the first time a made one of these I almost ruined the whole 12x12 sheet of paper! The black and white looks fabulous and the flocking looks really rich and beautiful. Great job!
ReplyDeleteDonna, This card is so elegant looking and very romantic. I envy the lucky person that receives this one. They will be so very happy. I have had that cutting problem in the past when doing this style card (which I absolutely love) now what I do is place of paper on top of the other piece and cut them together, that way they always fit together perfectly. Hope that helps a little bit. Enjoy your day.--Donna
ReplyDeleteVery elegant! Love the embossing. I SO feel for/with you on cutting wrong, I ruined 2 sheets trying the angle cuts.

This is just gorgeous! I love your layout and papers. I have often cut my papers in the wrong direction, too. Thanks for your photo program suggestion - I can't believe I never bothered to take a look into the one I'm using..... I did a simple color adjustment and my photo looks much better.
ReplyDeleteDonna,
ReplyDeleteYour cutting oops is exactly what I would do by asccident as well.
I like the combination of paper and embossing folder you used. All the elements on your card make it such a well balanced card.
Thank you for supporing OWH.
