Club Scrap Shades of Winter

I'm a little late for the Club Scrap Shades of Winter Blog Hop.  We decided at the last minute to go visit my brother for a few days and I was away from my craft room.  Not to say I didn't have some crafting fun with my Sister-in-law!  But this card has been on my mind since I saw the Jumbo UM branch with the berries.  So here is "Shades of Winter meets Watercolor Christmas."

CraftyColonel Donna Nuce for Club Scrap, Shades of Winter and Watercolor Christmas

It's a little sad that the sparkly berries don't show up well in photos.  The blue background paper is sparkly too!  IRL it is gorgeous!

There's still time to link up on the Club Scrap Shades of Winter Blog Hop.  Check out what the design team did - there are some gorgeous projects on display.

Cards in Envy Celebrate the Season

The new challenge on the Cards in Envy blog is to "Celebrate the Season."  We're looking for Holiday cards (any holiday we celebrate this time of year).  Here's one of my Christmas cards I'll be sending out this year (I sometimes make a few multiples of five but no more than that).

CraftyColonel Donna Nuce for Cards in Envy blog challenge. Christmas Card

I had one 12 x 12 piece of this great plaid paper left to use as a background.  I decided it would look cute with some punched out trees that are glittered up and a snowy base.  This was a great way to use up scraps of DP for the trees.

Come see what the rest of the design team came up with on the Cards in Envy blog.  Then link up your Holiday cards.

Cards in Envy Wouldn't That be Sweet

Time for another challenge on the Cards in Envy blog.  We are asking for you to create a card that features something sweet such as candies, cookies, cupcakes or maybe a sweet teddy bear, animal, child, etc. In your post tell us what is sweet on your card.

My sweet card today features cherries!  My favorite is cherry pie but I didn't have a stamp for that (LOL).  So I just went with the cherries.

Come on over to the Cards in Envy blog and check out what the other Design Team members made sweet on their card.  Then link up with us for a chance at bragging rights with your card.  Remember no lumpy bumpy cards but any card size/shape is welcome as long as it fits in a standard mailing envelope.

Club Scrap Paradise Blog Hop and Linky Party

Today Club Scrap is having their Paradise Blog Hop and Linky Party.  The Linky is open for the entire month to participate but you must use at least 50% Club Scrap products to participate.  This Paradise kit is gorgeous but the colors especially called to me to use alcohol ink to get the bright colors that go well with the kit.

Crafty Colonel Donna Nuce for Club Scrap Paradise Blog Hop, Card

I planned where I wanted my jungle leaves to go and inked that area first.  Then I inked the sky area where I wanted the sentiment to be.  I stamped with Archival ink over the alcohol ink.  (I accidentally smeared the first one I stamped because I forgot how easy this glossy paper is to smear ink).  Come check out the Club Scrap blog and see what the design team came up with for this Paradise kit.

Club Scrap Christmas Thyme BlogHop

It's official -- the shopping has started, the wreaths are hung, trees are decorated and Christmas cards addressed and mailed.  Today at Club Scrap we are having a bloghop with the Christmas Thyme collection to give you ideas for Cards and Scrapbook pages. If you came here from Annette's blog you are in the right place.  If you would like to start at the beginning of the hop go here to the Club Scrap blog.
After I completed the 20 cards that Tricia gave us Assembly Line Card instructions for, I had cardstock and paper left over because I make 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card fronts and attach them to white folded cardstock.  I was able to make these three cards and a tag and I have enough left over for at least six more cards.

There's gold paper and gold  DP cardstock in the Stamp collection.  I took advantage of that and used Super Fine Detail Gold embossing poweder to glam up the sentiments.  I used a gold paint calligraphy pen to edge some of the cards.  This collection will really help you get ready for Christmas!

TIP:  Here's a great way to stretch your paper even more when making cards fronts.  This is the back of the ornament card where I cut out the pieces needed for the front.  Once it is mounted on a blank card no one will know!

Club Scrap Literature

I missed the Literature blog hop on the Club Scrap blog but fortunately they leave the link open all month for me to get a project loaded on the blog.  Here's a card I made from the ACLM (Assembly Line Card Making) instructions for the Literature Club Stamp kit.

CraftyColonel Donna Nuce, Club Scrap Literature Club Stamp Kit, Sentiment Inspired by Stamping.

After I finished all 14 Club Stamp Cards from the kit I decided to make some Christmas Cards.  There was some gorgeous ribbon in the Club Scrap Literature Embellishment Pack and I had a few pieces of paper left over from the 2014 Retreat Elegance Kit.  I came up with six of these pretty Christmas Cards using a Cheery Lynn Die.

Playing along with a few challenges

After recovering from a three week vacation in a travel trailer all the way to New Hampshire and back (to visit my husband's son), I finally have some time to play on a few challenges. The Words to Craft by blog had this challenge for August/September.
The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step.  ~~ Lao-Tzu
Here's my take on the challenge.

Grab Our Blinky!

The sentiment is Impression Obsession but the rest of the cards is from the Club Scrap Navigation kit.  I am also entering this in Darnell's NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff) challenge #7 since I have had this sentiment for a long time but this is the first time it has seen ink.

Cards in Envy Square Challenge

The new challenge on the Cards in Envy blog is "Hip to be Square."  Show us your square cards or cards with square shapes on them.  Here's mine.

There's a store in Golden Colorado that takes used craft items and quilt fabric.  One of the owners has had several classes on how to make these beautiful paper quilts in different designs.  It takes a lot of patience to work with those tiny paper squares but I am pleased with the results.  Hop on over to the Cards in Envy blog and see what the rest of the design team did.  Then link up your square card or a card with squares on it.  Remember we don't have a card size restriction but your card must be thin enough to fit in a standard mailing envelope.

Happy 4th of July!  The new challenge on the Cards in Envy blog is "Stripes" any kind, any theme.  I chose to make my card with the Stars & Stripes for this special holiday!

Crafty Colonel Donna Nuce for Cards in Envy Challenge Blog, Rubber Cafe flag stamp, CTMH Home of the Brave and Kaboom
The flag stamp is Rubber Cafe.  I stamped in black and heat embossed in clear so it was easy to watercolor with Distressed inks.  I made a mask over the flag and stamped the fireworks in VersaMark and heat embossed them with Zing Red Glitter EP. (too bad glitter doesn't show up well in photos - those fireworks really sparkle)  The sentiment is stamped in black and heat embossed in clear.

Club Scrap Boardwalk Blog Hop

This month's kit at Club Scrap is titled Boardwalk.  Living in a land-locked state (Colorado) I don't have a lot of trips to the beach to scrapbook.  I looked at the colors in the kit and knew right away they would work great for any of my patriotic or military photos.  Here's a couple of pictures from my retirement ceremony in March of 2008.  (Yes I haven't scrapped them all yet,) I used a Pixels2Pages Star template to start my page.

CraftyColonel Donna Nuce using Club Scrap Boardwalk Digital kit.

I did want to try a watercolor beach scene for a card.  Those beach chairs are so adorable I just had to watercolor them using distressed inks.

Tim Holtz stamps and dies to the rescue when a masculine card is needed.  This compass rose is a little tough to cut out because the points are not symmetrical.  I had to move the thinlits around to get them to match up and cut the right way.  DP is Stampin'Up.

Club Scrap Creative License Card

I finally had time to get out my Club Stamp Kit and make a card.  You would think by looking at this card that it is for a male graduate but the young lady this card is going to happens to drag race with her parents and my DH at Bandimere Speedway so I know she will like the tone of this card.

I used the Club Stamp Creative License kit for DP and the Club Scrap Embellishment kit for the sentiment and the dream key and key chain.  I wanted the graduate to be able to remove the key and chain from the card so I used two eyelet holes for the key chain to thread through.  I popped the DP up from the card base so it is easy to take the key and key chain off the card.  It's a busy weekend for us with two graduation parties.  I'm off to make another graduation card.

Club Scrap Creative License Blog Hop

Time for another Blog Hop at Club Scrap.  This month it's all about cars!  The new Creative License kit is so much fun to work with.  Especially since DH is into drag racing.  Here's a quick page showing two of the drag racing cars we have owned. I don't have photos of the newest one yet - need to get up to the track and see it run. I used the digital kit that I get at the first of the month to do this page.

I'll be back later this week with some cards out of the Club Stamp kit.  My kit just arrived yesterday so I haven't had much time to play with it yet.  Be sure to check out the Club Scrap blog and link up your Creative License projects.

Cards in Envy Deep Blue

Time for another challenge at Cards in Envy.  This time we would like you to use mostly Deep Blue colors on your cards.  This reminded me of a Club Stamp Kit from May 2015 called "The Blues." I have a niece graduating from High School this month who lettered in Choir so I created this musical card for her.

I used SU Night of Navy as my ink and boy is that deep blue ink! LOL  I added some Wink of Stella to the dark blue inked areas so it is not so dark.

At Cards in Envy we ask that your cards be no more than 1/4" think without lumps so they fit in a standard mail envelope.  We no longer have a size restriction on cards.  Come check out what the other members of the Design Team did and then link up your card with us on the

Cards in Envy Just Us Girls

It's time for a new challenge on the Cards in Envy blog.  This time we want to see your feminine cards.  Nothing to me is more feminine than floral cards.  I am in love with this Dahlia DP from Club Scrap designed by Swarup Murthy (Sanketi on her blog).  Here's a card that I think will be perfect for my Mom this Mother's Day.

Club Stamp Dahlia Cards

Yesterday I discussed the differences between the Club Scrap Greetings to Go kits and the Club Stamp Kits.  Last night I had some time to finish up some cards from the Club Stamp Kits.  Sometimes I use Tricia's cutting directions to make my cards.  Other times I get inspired to create cards without using the directions.  This month I used Tricia's Assembly Line Cardmaking (ALCM) directions because I wanted to be sure I would use all the gorgeous pieces of paper to the limit.  (Something that Tricia is famous for!)   I do one thing different withe the ALCM directions.  Instead of using all the cardstock to make the card bases (8.5 x 5.5 inches), I cut them in half (4.25 x 5.5 inches).  I make card fronts and mount them to white cardstock bases.  That way I have extra cardstock to play with.  Here's two cards I created using Tricia's ALCM but adding my own additions to them.

Crafty Colonel Donna Nuce using Club Scrap Dahlia Kit, A2 Card
On this card I stamped the butterflies in Eggplant and colored them with orange and purple.  They have a coat of Wink of Stella for sparkle.  They show up dark in the photo but look much lighter IRL.  I also inked the edges of the DP to give it some depth.

Crafty Colonel Donna Nuce using Club Scrap Dahlia, A2 Birthday Card
On this card I switched out a Happy Birthday stamp from the Club Scrap Bugs set and added the multi-colored ribbon from the Embellishment Kit
(I always order the Embellishment Kit as an add on to my kit order).

Come back on Monday for my Cards In Envy card to see one more of the Dahlia Cards from the Club Stamp Kit.

Club Scrap Dahlia Blog Hop

It's that time again for the monthly Club Scrap Blog Hop - this month showcasing the beautiful Dahlia kit with watercolor designs by Swarup Murthy (Sanketi on her blog).
I get the digital kit at the beginning of the month and I created this page with it.

CraftyColonel Donna Nuce for Club Scrap Dahlia Bloghop, Scrapbook Page

On the 20th of the month my Club Stamp kit arrives and I like to make cards with that kit.  I didn't get a chance to finish my cards - I'll be back tomorrow with them.  The difference between the Greetings to Go and the Club Stamp is that Greetings to go has more pre-printed sentiments and different card sizes.  Club Stamp is for stampers who like to make A2 sized cards.  All of the papers are designed to fit that size of card.  With either kit you get fantastic instructions by Tricia (Club Scraps owner).

Silver Linings W2CB#28 #rrcb36

I had some time today to squeeze in a card for two challenges.

I designed this card for the Retro Rubber Challenge.  The water puddles stamp at the bottom of the card is from the Club Scrap Serenity Kit September 2012.  The heart raining clouds stamp is a Hostess Stamp Hello Love from Stampin'Up from their 2014 catalog.  The sentiment is from the Stampin'Up Sprinkles of Life in their current catalog.  Hard to see but the dark clouds are cut from silver foil with the Memory Box Puffy Clouds die.

I also want to enter this in the Words 2 Craft by challenge.

Our spring has come at last with the soft laughter of April suns
and shadow of April showers.   Byron Caldwell Smith

I think my showers fit well with their theme too.
