OWH Virtual Card Making Party

Updated Monday afternoon - all VCMP Challenges completed!

Scroll down to see the ODBD post (the first challenge in the VCMP).  I'll be adding to this post the rest of the weekend for the challenges at Operation Write Home and the "Rebel" Virtual Cardmaking Party (VCMP) instead of scrapbooking for National Scrapbook Day!  The second post for the VCMP is by Paula asking us to make a kids cards using a sketch.  I used OWH Sketch #170.

Sketch Challenge #170

Papers and stamps are from Close to My Heart.

The third stop on the VCMP is at Sandy Allnock's blog "I Can't Stop Embellishing" she asked us to make a romantic card using an OWH tutorial.  I remember when Sandy showed us a way to paper piece this darling balloon from the Hero Arts OWH fundraising set.

This is the last of my opened packet of Creative Memories "Be Mine" addition.  (I have one unopened pack yet to use)  I had to print the sentiment out from my digital edition of the kit so I covered it with glossy accents to make sure it didn't bleed if it got wet.  I used the Cuttlebug Swirl EF to look like the wind.

The fourth stop on the VCMP is at Nancy Keller's blog "Scrap Happens"  she challenged us to use a scrapbook sketch instead of a card sketch to make our card.  Cool idea and I took one of the ones she had posted on her blog and made this.

from this sketch from Page Maps:

The butterfly is from the Potpourri Basket Cricut Cartridge.  The love stamp and punch is from Stampin'Up!

The fifth challenge for the VCMP was the Sunday Sketch #171 over at OWH.

171

Cardstock and DSP is from the Buzz and Bumble kit from Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The stamp is from the CTMH "Pun Fun."  I colored the bee with Tim Holtz Distressed Markers in Mustard Seed and Vintage Photo.

Challenge number six was Julie on her blog "Handmade by Julie"  to use a photo you took and make a card to send to one of our Heroes.

This is a photo I took out the car window on the way up Lookout Mountain here outside of Denver.  There were a lot of deer out grazing that day.  Of course the old song "Home on the Range" came to mind and so I used Creative Memories Storybook Creator 4.0 to make the digi I printed.  I used the Bleeding Cowboy font and an embellishment from the Creative Memories Rugged Outdoors digital kit.

The last challenge #7 was from JoAnn Ross to make a Summertime card.

This stamp set was the April Close to My Heart Stamp of the Month.  Very appropriate for summer!  The quote is from Bob Marley -- "The sun is shining.  Weather is sweet.  Make you wanna move your dancing feet."

Sandy Allnock added one additional "bonus" challenge to make a card using googly eyes.  There are no googly eyes in my crafting supplies so I will pass on that one!  LOL!

Hope you had a great weekend!  Happy Crafting!

Our Daily Bread May and Inkspirational #18 Challenge

Happy National Scrapbook Day!  The folks over at Operation Write Home are being Rebellious and making cards instead!  LOL  The first challenge of their Virtual Card Making Party is to make a card for the Our Daily Bread May Challenge -- Missing you cards.  I combined this with the Inkspirational Blog Color Challenge #18 of Grape, Olive and Peach.    (My cardstock looks blue in the background but it really is purple)

This is a gorgeous triadic color combination!  In looking through my Pinterest Inspiration Board I came across a card from Sandy Allnock that she made for the Interactive Cardmaking Project (ICP).  Mine doesn't look quite like the original sketch (neither did Sandy's!)  If you want to try the ICP GO HERE and follow along to CBABA to see Sandy's card and play along in the ICP.  The paper is Graphic 45 Tropical Travelogue.  Stamp is TPC studios.  Ribbon is American Crafts.

OWH Midweek Throwdown "Time"

Two posts in one day!  Scroll down to see my card for the Inkspriational blog challenge.   Had to get caught up on some of my challenges.  The Midweek Throwdown Challenge at Operation Write Home is "time".

What you can't see in the picture is that DSP is a lavender shimmer paper.  It came out of an old 2004 "Club Scrap" kit that I purchased just because I wanted the stamps.  The paper is gorgeous so it won't go to waste.  The clock and sentiments are "Hands of Time" by Papetry Ink.  There is a larger clock face and matching die in the set also.  The diecute behind the clock is Spellbinders.

Inkspriational Challenge #17

The challenge at the Inkspirational Blog this week is a Sketch Challenge.

I cut the postage stamp from the Close to My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge.  I inked it with Tim Holtz Distressed ink in Tattered Rose.  The DSP is Close to My Heart "La Belle Vie" (retired) and the Stamp set (heat embossed in white) is "Jardin."

Flower Power

Operation Write Home has a tutorial and making flowers for their cards.  The flowers can't be too 3D or they won't go through the mail without being destroyed.  (Thank you postal service!)  I made this card using the Everything Elanore stamp set from Stampin'Up! and rolled the flowers to give them a little dimension. I popped them up with a skinny dimensional.

This is a monochromatic card using Baja Breeze from Stampin'Up!  I made six of these cards, one to send to Operation Write Home and five for my Swap group.

Triple Play!

This card takes care of three different challenges for the Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps Blog.  The Our Daily Bread Design April Challenge is for things that fly.  For every twenty-five cards linked, Our Daily Bread will pay for shipping one box to our heroes overseas.  Only four more cards needed to get to 50 (three more if you count this one).  The second challenge is OWH Sketch #169.  The third challenge is the OWH Midweek throwdown A Bug's Life.   My card:

The stamp and papers are from the Close to My Heart Buzz and Bumble scrapbooking kits. I used spellbinders Labels 22, Martha Stewart border punch and hand cut the hexagons.

Inskpirational Challenge #16

The Inkspirational challenge blog has a CASE challenge this week.  Here is my card.

Mother's day is coming soon and I need 2 cards for my Mother and MIL.  I love this DSP with the little crowns and birds on it.  It was a Stampin'Up! Sale-a-Bration special from last year.  I snagged 2 packages of the paper because I like it so much.  The stamp is from Paper Inspirations (Hobby Lobby) and the border punch is "Marta" from Paper Wishes.  Cardstock is Stampin'Up!  Here is the inspiration CASE.  It is a gorgeous card.

Inkspirational Challenge #15

The new challenge over at the Inkspirational blog is a photo challenge.  With the Cherry Blossoms blooming in D.C. this was a perfect photo challenge.  My card:

The stamp and sentiment is a special edition from Simple Pleasures LSS in Colorado Springs, CO.  My SIL lives near the Springs and when I visit I love to take a shopping tour through Simple Pleasures!  Stamped with Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink and embossed with clear EB.  Blossoms are colored with Tim Holtz Distressed Markers in Worn Lipstick and I distressed the edges with Worn Lipstick Distressed Ink.  Background DSP is "Shaffer" Almanac Collection from Prima.  I think I got this paper free at one of my "Scrapfest" crops.  I am also entering this in the Operation Write Home Midweek throwdown challenge, show your favorite color combination.  Black and Pink are such a gorgeous elegant color combo don't you think?

Have a great day!

Inskpirational Challenge #14 and OWH Midweek

The ladies over at Inkspirational blog have a color challenge this week.  I decided to get busy and get this one done quickly as I missed the linky for the last challenge because it closed early.  That is what I get for waiting until the last few hours.  The colors for this weeks challenge were Banana, Pink and Slate.

While I was at it I decided to combine challenges with the Operation Write Home Midweek Throwdown of Tags and Twine.  The round tag is a stamp from Inspired by Stamping Fancy Tags.  I stamped it with Momento Tuxedo Black ink  on banana yellow cardstock and then mounted it on a piece of slate cardstock.    The sentiment in the center is from the Stampin'Up Vintage Verses set.  The Pink DSP is from an Authentique Uncommon 6x6 pad.  The harlequin DSP is from a retired Stampin'Up Well Worn kit.  Border is Sizzix Dots and Scallops decorative strip.  I added dots of Ranger Distressed Stickles in Broken Chine on the tag and along the decorative border.  I twine I used is We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy Floss in Twilight (hard to see but it is sparkly!).

Inkspirational Challenge Lucky #13

The Inkspirational Challenge for this last week was a sketch challenge.  I am barely getting this in under the wire! (UPDATE:  Somehow the link was closed even though it was 3PM MDT -- don't know how I missed it!)
The sketch:

My Card:

The wreath piece was laying on my desk and was a left over from an old Creative Memories Travel kit.  I wanted to use the gorgeous button I picked up at Hobby Lobby the other day.  The DSP is Pebbles "Fresh Goods Rain Check" (the other side has a darling red and white check --you might see that later).  Pearls are Creative Charms (out of business).  Ribbon and Sentiment is Stampin'Up!  Ink is Tim Holtz Distressed Ink in Vintage Photo.
