Cards in Envy Colors of Fall

It's time for another challenge on the Cards in Envy blog.  For the next two weeks we are asking for card with the colors of Fall.  (Oranges, Golds, Browns).  Here is my card for the challenge.

The stamps are from Close to My Heart Harvest Happiness.  The bingo card is Simple Stories.  I added some Wink of Stella to the leaves and sentiment for some shine.

Never Forget

     Fourteen years ago today I was standing in the Headquarters of the Army National Guard in Arlington, VA.  I was watching a TV screen with the video clip of the planes flying into the twin towers.  As I continued on with my business in the office of the headquarters we discovered that the Pentagon had been hit also.  We were told to leave the building because they could not be sure how many planes were waiting to attack Federal Government buildings.  We began our hour long car trek through Washington D.C. traffic to get back to the hotel that was right across from the Pentagon.  We had nowhere else to go.  I couldn't even call my parents and husband to tell them I was safe as all the cell phone towers were jammed. (I was never sure if it was on purpose or because everyone was trying to call).  That evening as we watched the Pentagon burn from a room high up in our hotel, we realized that our world had changed dramatically. We were allowed to fly home the next day in our military airplane (because we had our General with us).  I know many people had a much harder time getting home during that next week.

  

     I just finished reading this book and would hope that my blog readers will take the time to read this book.  Because of my duty positions in the Colorado Army National Guard I never had the opportunity to deploy during Desert Storm or Operation Enduring Freedom.  But my utmost honor and respect goes out to all my fellow service members who did deploy.  My deepest respect goes to service women who did deploy and for those who never made it home. This is the story of some of the best of the best service women in the military.  The cream of the crop.
     As we Americans go about our day to day business not thinking about those who serve and protect us both here and abroad, please take the time to remember this horrible day in our history and how important our military members are to us.

Cards in Envy Inspired by a Song

It's time for a new challenge on the Cards in Envy blog.  For the next two week we want to see cards that were inspired by a song.  My card today was inspired by a song my Dad used to sing to us all the time.  It is still one of my favorites!

CASE-ing Christmas for September

It's time for the September CASE-ing Christmas Challenge!  CASE-ing Christmas is now a MONTHLY challenge!  From this point on, The challenge will run from the 5th of each month at 6:00am CST until the last day of the month at 11:55pm CST. 
Instead of seeing the Design Team cards all in one go, CASE-ing Christmas will be sharing them throughout the month.  My card will still be available to see starting on the 5th, though!  On the CASE-ing Christmas blog, just click the names on the hop list to see what each DT member has for you.
Each month, we will be celebrating CHRISTMAS on the 25th by doing a random giveaway to one lucky participant!  
We will have a variety of prizes to give out, but you MUST be linked up by the 23rd of each month in order to be entered into the drawing! :)

I used Stampin'Up! Best of Snow and Scenic Season (both retired) with some sponging for the sky.  Glitter glue on the snowman and bird.

I got the idea from this card on Pinterest.  I used more quilt like DP for the squares.  These are Simon Says Stamp Stitched Squares Dies.  The sentiment was a free one from a magazine purchase.

Club Scrap Woven Strands Bloghop

Welcome to the Club Scrap Woven Strands bloghop.  

If you arrived here from  Anne Hunter's blog you are in the right place.  If you arrived here from somewhere else and would like to start at the beginning of the bloghop, go HERE to the Club Scrap blog. 

 This month I subscribed to the Club Scrap Digital Kit, the Art Nouveau Stamp, Club Stamp Kit,  Unmounted Borders and Backgrounds Stamp, and the Embellishment Pack. 

 I get my digital kit on the first day of the month.  I have an old Weimeraner (one of seven that we have had over thirty years)  I decided it was time to scrap his story and get a good picture of him before he heads off to the Rainbow Bridge (hopefully not anytime soon).  The Woven Strands kit seemed a perfect kit to showcase my fur baby!  He's such a mellow dog for being a Weimeraner.  

I use Panstoria Artisan software for my digital scrapbooking.  This is a template from the Pixels2Pages website.

This month my Club Stamp kit arrived in time before the bloghop for me to make a card!  I kept thinking that the designs in this kit would make a great Christmas Card!  

The sentiment is from the Club Scrap "Gnome for the Holidays."

Mommy's Brag Book

This weekend we will be having a baby shower for my youngest Niece.  She lives in Maryland and is out here visiting her parents.  I had her shower gift sent to her home so she wouldn't have to cart too many gifts on the plane.  I wanted to give her something more personal at the shower.  So I put together this Mommy Brag book for her to use to show off baby pictures.  I got the idea for the Accordian Tag Mini Album from Gloria Stengel's Scraps of Life Blog.

Plenty of room to add pictures and journaling on the tags.  Since my niece won't tell us the sex of the baby yet, I had to go with both blue and the peach color. 

 I love this Graphic 45 Precious Memories DP.  So cute!

Cards in Envy Cute and Cuddly

It's time for a new challenge on the Cards in Envy blog.  For the next two week we want to see cards with something you find cute and cuddly (teddy bears, bunnies, etc).  Cute cards are not something I do a lot of.  But I was able to come up with an OWH stamp with this cute little lamb on it.

The lamb is from the Hero Arts OWH Missing You set.  The sentiment is from the Rubber Cafe - I think the Hero Arts lamb is cuter but I like the Rubber Cafe sentiment.

Here is my take on Steph's Card.

I flipped Steph's card and then got carried away with the Tim Holtz Holiday Joy set and a starry sky technique from Jennifer McGuire.  Star is a Memory Box die.  I know it is hard to see but the trees, deer, star and ground are all shimmer cardstock.  The stars are sprinkles of perfect pearl on Tim Holtz distressed ink background.

Cards in Envy

I am thrilled to say that I have joined the Design Team on the Cards in Envy blog.  All challenges for that blog must be A2 in size (4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches) and no more than 1/4 inch thick to fit in a standard A2 envelope for mailing.    The challenge for this two weeks is Birthday Party.  

I use my Club Scrap Cantina kit for this card.  I love the Margarita stamp and this cute sentiment!
